There are three species in the genus Monoctenia, smerintharia, falernaria, and one undescribed species, MOV Monoctenia sp (1). They are large attractive moths, the larvae of which feed on eucalypt foliage.

Male, the antennae are unipectinate or one sided in this genus.
The Patched Leaf Moth, Monoctenia falernaria, female.
Male.
